security
From latin "securitas, -atis", and this from "securis, -is" (an axe , hatchet; esp. the headsman's axe; hence, supreme power, Roman supremacy); meaning: freedom from care; peace of mind , composure; carelessness, false confidence. Transf. later: freedom from danger. The latter, being the modern meaning of the word, is a fallacy, as no freedom from danger can ever be expected in absolute terms. The concept is being used maliciously by almost every government in the world (mainly western governments) to justify almost every otherwise unjustifiable action they carry out. This includes: surveillance, personal data mining and management, police brutality, warfare, and so on... Security has become a god to whom citizens are willful to sacrifice all of their liberties and criticism. They should remember that death lurks anywhere and anytime, which is known by humanity since long ago, so they should at least be always suspicious whenever anything is done "for their security".
