I had been taught a car with the tops of the window frames was a "drop head coupe", with windows that rolled up was a "convertable" and without side windows was "roadster" - e.g. the Stutz Bearcat, Triumph TR-3 or MG-A. Now any small car with a removable top is billed as a "roadster" because it sounds more fun, I guess.
