pre-qualified
It means something different to marketers than to consumers-- consumers think it means "hey, I am qualified to get this offer-- they have already established that" whereas to marketers, 'qualify' means to "establish a list of potential customers." So when you get that mailing or phone call that you're 'pre-qualified' for some offer, you think you should be able to say, "Great, send that 0% credit card," but then, instead, they have all these silly questions about how much money you make. And then they say, "oh, sorry, you don't qualify." hmmmmmmm
