The pirates are those in the broadcast entertainment industry who have taken over what used to be a respectable profession of collecting and delivering the happenings in our communities, country, and world to the citizenry – a report of recent events. The new definition of “news” is the presentation of information and opinion that may or may not be new that can grab the attention of the citizenry and allow a profit to be made. This most often occurs by the creation or inflation of controversy where none previously existed. Other common pirating techniques involve the commerce of tragedy, pain, and suffering, and/or the promotion of depraved individuals or acts.
