five by five
Originally, this was a designation for radio chat. The first number was for strength of the signal, from 1 to 5, and the second was the clarity of the signal, from 1 to 5. So if someone said, "I read you five by five," it's the same as saying, "I read you loud and clear." Now it's used as "all is well" on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the like. At least let it mean loud and clear like it did originally.
